Belgian Shepherd Health Project Mission Statement
We are an international community of breeders and owners committed to actions in support of a healthy future for the Belgian Shepherd. We believe that conserving genetic diversity is essential for protecting our breed from heredity diseases. To this end, we promote genetic testing of individual dogs and partnerships with researchers that are investigating the genome of our breed. We also believe that breeders and owners, not scientists, are ultimately responsible for ensuring a healthy future for the Belgian Shepherd. Therefore, much of our work is dedicated to informing the Belgian Shepherd community about the role we can play in maintaining genetic diversity and lowering the risk of hereditary diseases among our dogs.
